Raymond "Getty" Dears

Raymond "Getty" Dears was born March 23, 1953, in Alvarado, Texas, to the late James Dears and Jessie Mae (Banks) Riggins. He attended Dunbar High School in Temple, Texas, graduating in 1971. He united in faith at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Temple, Texas, where he served and accepted Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He served in the United States Army. Raymond met and married Cassandra Hendricks Matthews on August 1, 2019. He worked for Artco Bell for ten years.
He was loved by so many people of all ages and if you knew him, you'd vibe with him and his family, socializing, dancing, and getting to know everyone. Most of all he loved to play pool, and you could always find this "Pool Shark" around a pool table.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Dears and mother, Jessie Mae (Banks) Riggins, grandparents, Dave and Anna Banks, sisters, Nancy Hollins, Patricia Dears and Helen Bradford.
Survivors are his wife, Sandy Hendricks (Dears) of Temple; son, Jimmy Peoples, Sr. (Ellen) of Temple; sister, Mildred Haynes of Temple; brother-in-law, Cory Davis of Temple; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
