Raymond Edwards Obituary
Raymond Odell Edwards, 87, of Augusta, KS died February 7, 2026 at his home. Odell was born on September 16, 1938 to Raymond and Ilo Edwards.
Odell graduated from Douglass High School in 1956. In 2025 he was inducted into the Douglass High School Sports Hall of Fame. He was very proud of this achievement.
While living in the Hutchinson area, Odell worked at Krause Plow, Ramsey Oil, and eventually retiring as a regional truck driver from Dillons.
In 1957, Odell married his high school sweetheart Karen Barnes. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Armond, Dave, & Butch; sisters Delight and Gail; daughter Sherry Jill Howell; son-in-law Dale Howell; grandson Carter Odell Helm.
He is survived by sisters Rometa (Keith) Seal, Janelle Edwards, Lori (Daryl) Metheny, children Jerry (Chris) Edwards of Oregon, Odette (Todd) Helm of Seneca, KS, and Lynn (Mitch) Shumate of Fort Worth, TX; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation 5-7pm Tuesday, February 10 at Smith Mortuary in Derby. Graveside services 11am Wednesday, February 11, at the Douglass, KS Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Senior Center, 124 W. 4th St. Douglass, KS 67039.
