Raymond Goodwin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Dec. 26, 2025.
Raymond John Goodwin II, went to be with Jesus and the love of his life, Marie Kathleen Davis Goodwin, on December 18, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1947, to Robert Leo and Ruth Elizabeth Hughes Goodwin in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

Ray entered the United States Army after graduating from high school in 1965. While stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, he met Kathy Davis on February 12, 1966. The two soon fell in love and their relationship lasted for 57 years. They were happily married for 55 of those years. They were married on March 16, 1968, at Sheppard Air Force Base Chapel in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their love survived two tours of duty to Viet Nam, several other duty stations, many medical conditions and four children. Ray and Kathy were inseparable for many years, always caring for each other. Their love and marriage are the legacy that they left to their children, grandchildren and all who knew them.

Ray is survived by the four children that God blessed them with: Angela (Rodney)Stokes, Raymond (Simona) Goodwin III, Elizabeth Goodwin (Brownie Fretwell), and Joseph (Audrey) Goodwin. Their children blessed them with their wonderful grandchildren whom Ray and Kathy were very proud of: Dustin Goodwin, Emma Stokes, John Michael Goodwin, Zachary (Brianna) Stokes, Valerie Goodwin, Alex (Reese) Goodwin, Mia (Christopher)Halmi, and Alyssa Fretwell. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Barbara, Bernadette, Betsy, Mary (Dave), Ellie (Ed), Anne (Lou), Kathy (Gene), Bill (Stephanie), Fran (Michelle), and Monica (Bob); and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy; his parents, Robert and Ruth; two brothers, Bob and Jim; and grandson, Thomas.

Ray loved God and shared that with his children and grandchildren and pretty much anyone who knew him. He was proud of his Catholic faith and was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church where he served in many roles for over 30 years, from high school youth group to Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a very proud United States Army Veteran and instilled a love of country to his family. Ray was a generous, kind, and caring man who will be missed by many.
