Raymond "Earl" Hall, age 77, passed away January 17, 2026, at The Hospice Home of High Point.
He was born on June 10, 1948, in
Greensboro, North Carolina, a son of Dock E Hall and Ruby Wilson. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country for 3 years. Earl was also a Vietnam veteran. Following his service in the military, he moved back to High Point and joined the High Point Fire Department where he was a dedicated firefighter for over 20 years years before retiring in 1992.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother Dwight Hall, his brother Richard, his sister Mary Louise, and his very special"adoptive" parents Jasper Earl (for whom he was named) and Annie Lee Crowell, a son-in-law, Brett Freeman.
In 1970, he married the former Cheryl Johnston, who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Freeman and Crystal Morris (Rusty) both of High Point.; two granddaughters, Keller and Brewer Morris, brother, Robert Hall of Georgia, brother-in-law Ernie Johnston (Martha) and sister-in-law Barbara Smith (Smitty) and many loved nieces and nephews. Earl leaves behind a host of "special friends and "brothers"from the High Point Fire Department.
Never one to take much serious, he was always cracking jokes and bringing smiles to people's faces with his humor. He was a devoted husband and Dad, and in 2010, he was blessed to become a Granddaddy, a role in which he treasured.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassion and care from Novant Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit and Hospice of the Piedmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or the
charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 7,2026, with visitation following the service.
