Danny Ray McDowell Sr.

Danny Ray McDowell, Sr. 81 of Thomasville, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Randolph County Hospice House. Born October 9, 1944, in Guilford County he is a son of the late Everette Riley McDowell and Ruth Crouse McDowell. Danny was very athletic playing basketball and baseball. He graduated from Trinity High School and Davidson County Community College. Danny was in the car business having worked at Thompson Ford in Thomasville and Crescent Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in High Point and later having his own business for several years. He attended Spoons Chapel Christian Church in Asheboro. Danny will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He loved to laugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Danny Ray McDowell, Jr in 1967.

Danny is survived by his wife Alisa W. McDowell of the home, daughter Kristi Green and husband Gaylon of Trinity, son Kevin McDowell and wife Erica of Kernersville and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Green and Maddie McDowell. He is also survived by stepsons Eric Moran and wife Amanda of Denton, Aaron Moran of Asheboro, brother Kenneth McDowell and wife Jacquelyn of Archdale and sister Glenda Canada and husband Dale of Kernersville.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Danny Ray McDowell, Sr. will be held 2 pm Sunday at Fairview Church of Trinity with Pastor Isaac Fetterhoff officiating and remembrances by his cousin Darrell Frye. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Randolph County Hospice House and the ICU team at Thomasville Hospital for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be given to Randolph Hospice Home, 446 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
