Opal's life was filled with music, travel and adventure.
A single mother for more than 40 years after her husband passed, Opal managed to hold her family together and provide a loving home for all four of her children as well as their friends, neighbors, and anybody who showed up at her doorstep. She was a steady and reliable presence to anyone who needed care or a shoulder to lean on. Opal was the one you could always depend on in a crisis.
She worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. Somehow, she still managed to find time to volunteer and raise funds for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW for many years.
During her lifetime, Opal's legacy is one of caring for others. She will be deeply missed.
Opal's life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Cumby Family at 206 Trindale Road in Archdale, with Reverend Riley Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
