Raymond L. Haney was born on April 6, 1932 in Gainesboro, TN and passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the age of 93.

Raymond was the son of John Thomas Haney and Bessie Jeanette Stewart Haney. He retired as a salesman at United Appliance Parts. He was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for several years. He proudly served his country in the Korean as a gunner of a 57 recoilless rifle corp, squad leader and sergeant of his company. His tour of duty included Camp Roberts, CA and Fort Knox, KY. He was one of the founding members of Jackson Co Rescue Squad.

Survivors include wife of 71 years Louise Crabtree Haney of Gainesboro; daughter, Sandy and Mike Thompson of Gainesboro; son, Randy and Shelia Haney of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Brandi and Randy Bean, Christy Summers, Randy and Jennifer Mayberry, Anna and Thomas Goodwin, Emily and John Kimberly, Raymond and Savannah Mayberry, Ronnie Mayberry, Jara-Lee Brinkley, Josh Brinkley and Jacob and Victoria Haney; 22 great grandchildren along with a hosts of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by infant son, daughter, Pamela Haney Peterson; two son in laws, Kenneth Peterson and Wayne Mayberry; grandson, Billy Joe Mayberry; 3 brothers, James Haney, Ewing Haney and Robert Haney; sister, Maydell Haney Loftis; three brother in laws, Harlon Crabtree, Earl Crabtree and Denver Loftis and three sister in laws, Nellie Crabtree, Roberta Haney and Layla Haney.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 4-8 pm Friday 12 pm to 3 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Mabery and Bro. Ronald Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Young Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Young Cemetery.
