Laura Kathy Gregory, affectionately known as Kathy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 23, 2026, in
Baxter, Tennessee. Born on October 4, 1952, in Overton County, Tennessee, Kathy's life was a testament to the enduring strength and warmth of the human spirit.
Kathy was a devoted mother, a loving sister, a cherished grandmother, and a steadfast friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness that touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her adoring family: her son David and his wife Crystal Lee of Warrior, Alabama; her daughters Amy and her husband Brandon Green of Kimberly, Alabama, Sharon Campbell of
Gainesboro, Tennessee, and Memorie Campbell, also of Kimberly, Alabama. Her presence will be deeply missed by her brother, Donald Farmer and his wife Sharon of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; her sisters Stella Smith of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Mary Booher of Livingston, Tennessee. Kathy was a proud grandmother to Megan, Katheryn, and Seth Lee Gravins of Warrior, Alabama, and Scott Cook of Alabama, whose lives were greatly enriched by her boundless love and care.
Kathy was a person of faith, a Christian who lived her beliefs through her actions every day. Her commitment to her family was unparalleled, and she was the embodiment of love, selflessness, and generosity. She cultivated a home that was always welcoming, filled with the laughter of her grandchildren and the scent of her beautiful garden.
Kathy's educational journey culminated in an Associate's Degree, which served her well throughout her years of dedicated work as a factory worker at Bonnell Aluminum in Gordonsville, Tennessee. Her work ethic and collegial spirit made her a valued team member and a beloved colleague.
Beyond her family and work, Kathy had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. She was an avid fan of watching westerns on television, a pastime that brought her much joy and relaxation. Gardening was another of Kathy's interests; she had a green thumb that could coax life from the most stubborn of soils, creating a tapestry of color and vitality that reflected her own nature.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her as the matriarch of her family, a role she embraced with every fiber of her being. Her life was a living example of the virtues she held dear-compassion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Through her actions, she taught her children and grandchildren the importance of putting family first, of being there for each other through thick and thin.
Kathy's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared at family gatherings, in the quiet moments spent in her garden, and in the lessons she imparted to all who were fortunate enough to feel the warmth of her embrace. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those she loved, and her spirit will remain a guiding light to those she has left behind.
As we bid farewell to Kathy, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with her. Her journey on this earth may have come to a close, but the love she gave and the memories she created will endure forever.
