Raymond Scott Harrell, 88, passed away December 11, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Raymond was born in Indianapolis to Walter Scott Harrell and Thelma Jacqueline Harrell. He was always known to his friends as "Scotty".

Raymond committed his life to Jesus Christ at an early age while in elementary school. He joined the United States Air Force in January of 1957 and was stationed at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas as an Air Force Communications Specialist. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, then worked for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals, The Ford Corporation, and then retired in 1995 from General Motors. Raymond was a passionate golfer, playing golf nearly every day of his life. If he wasn't golfing, he was bowling, as he won many golfing and bowling championships.

Raymond loved football, especially the Colts and he enjoyed having conversations about his life as a young man, his experiences with various employers, and his years in the military.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marie Harrell-Williams; his brother, Eddie Evans; his dear cousin, Anita Harrell; and his youngest son, Anthony Scott Harrell Sr.

He leaves to mourn his daughter, Diedre Harrell-Keith (Malcom); oldest son, Terrance Scott Harrell Sr.; his sisters, Paula Burks (Frederick), Hattie Boyce; and brother, Roy Evans (Cindy). Raymond also leaves to mourn eight grandsons, Tony Harrell Jr., Dana Harrell, Josh Harrell, Zack Harrell, Evan Easterling, Taylor Easterling, Terrence Harrel Jr., and Terry Harrell; and one granddaughter, Anastasia Harrell; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; very close nephew, Lavel Williams; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service honoring Raymond's life will be held Monday, December 22 at 2 pm at Crown Hill National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Honor Guard.

The family of Raymond Scott Harrell thanks all of you (including friends and family who could not attend) who have come to say a final goodbye to our dad, grandfather, brother, cousin, and uncle "Raymond". As believers in Christ, we understand that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:8. We know that Raymond is now in a place promised especially to him and made by God, and this place is available to anyone who believes in the birth, death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
