Raymond Hentz Obituary

Raymond Hentz
Raymond Leroy Hentz, 75, of New London, CT, and previously Wallingford, CT, passed away peacefully on 12/15/2025. Born to Doris and Leroy Hentz on 5/27/1950, in New Haven, CT. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marilyn LaGace Hentz, his precious son, Alexander, and brother, Richard. Predeceased by brother, Russell. Former co-owner of Shady Bradys Cafe in Hamden, CT, Ray went on to a career in sales at Welco Distributors in West Haven, CT, for over 30 years. He had a quick wit that made for lots of good times, and laughter with family and friends. A perfect summer evening for him was relaxing on the porch, watching his beloved Red Sox with a scotch and a cigar. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

One of the BEST! Ray will be sorely missed.
First, he was a colleague and then became a dear friend. He listened, was a witty storyteller and loved to help out when needed. A giant curmudgeon who had a hilarious sense of humor and most importantly was a loving and devoted husband and father. Marilyn and Alex may his memory be a blessing and sending caring thoughts. We are deeply saddened by Ray´s passing. He was a great guy with a wicked sense of humor, which delighted everyone, especially during family get-togethers. Ray and Marilyn´s annual family Christmas Eve parties were always special and memorable, especially when he was Santa for the little ones.

Dave remembers Ray fondly from those wonderful Shady Brady´s days in the 70´s, where his Hamden Fire Department softball team hosted our opponents after each home game.

We, our children and grandchildren offer our heartfelt condolences to Marilyn and Alex. May God comfort them at this very sad time.

"Raymie" one of the dearest, kindest, sweetest & funniest guys I have been lucky enough to be dear friends with since homeroom at Hamden High School. To be with Ray & his gorgeous, most loving wife Marilyn - wonderful, warm & cozy dinners at their home and in particular spending New Year´s Eve with our special group of friends, will be treasured memories to me forever. Rest in Peace Raymie, I will miss you so, love you always
