Raymond E. Hoopengardner, age 84 of Vero Beach, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Vero Beach, FL.
He was born on March 4, 1937 in Amaranth, PA, and was the son of the late Patsy and Grace Wigfield Hoopengardner.
Ray worked with Commonwealth Telephone Company and New York Central Railroad. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1147, Wellsboro. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Trecia O'Neil.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Hoopengardner; sons, Ray Hoopengardner and significant other Sharon and Rick Hoopengardner and wife Lori; daughter, Marlene Hughes; siblings, Alva Hoopengardner and Alverda and Viola Schetrompf; grandchildren, Tonya and significant other Ryan, Rick, Cody and fiancée Amanda Fischer, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Skylar Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Laura Kyler of the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donors choice.
