Raymond Lessard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallant Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 11, 2026.
Waterville - Raymond Gerard Lessard passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on March 9th, 2026, at Lakewood Continuing Longterm Care Center in Waterville, Maine after several years of navigating Parkinson's disease.

Ray was born in Waterville on March 5th, 1939, to Odilon and Eva Rose (Gagnon) Lessard. He attended local Catholic elementary schools and was a graduate of Waterville High School, Class of 1958. During his time there, Ray loved playing hockey for his school team. He was a proud, lifelong resident of Waterville.

He married Blanche E. Snow of Oakland on December 1, 1963. They were blessed with three daughters, Rae Ann, Celeste, and Denise.

After a few years working at the former Harris Bakery on North Street, Ray then worked for 30+ years as a shirt inspector at the then-Hathaway Shirt Company housed in the historic factory along the Kennebec River on Water Street.

He enjoyed gardening, tole painting, drawing, puzzles, and caring for his dog Peppie. He loved watching sports and never missed a Red Sox or Boston Bruins game. He was a longtime communicant of St. Francis Catholic Church and volunteered for Meals On Wheels for several years after retirement.

He is survived by Blanche and his three daughters, Rae Ann Randall of Waterville, Celeste Lessard of Winslow, and Denise and Guy Gagnon of Biddeford. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Lindsey, Olivia, Alicia, Eleanor, and Maria, as well as great-grandchildren Trever, Blair, Bianca, Bryce, and Sam. Ray also leaves behind his younger brother Jerome Lessard of Alfred, Maine along with many cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. A private Mass of Christian burial and interment will be held in the spring.
