Raymond K. McDermaid, 69, of Lacon, IL, passed away at 5:42 am on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on May 10, 1956 in Drayton, ND. His parents are Raymond T. and Alice (Streitmatter) DuBois.
Surviving are his mother, Alice of Lacon, IL; siblings, Tina DuBois of Lacon, Therese DuBois of Metamora, IL, Timothy DuBois of Peoria, and Rose (Brandon) Miller of Roanoke, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond, and aunts and uncles, Lawrence (Jeanette) DuBois, Marvin (Linda) DuBois, Margaret DuBois, and Raymond Lee (Bernie) Streitmatter.
Raymond was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora, IL and a member of the Knights of Columbus Eugene M. Dunn Council #8321 in Lacon for 25 years. He enjoyed farming and helping with the cows. He loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! He also loved his family and caring for other people.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until mass time, also at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the A.R.K. Humane Society, 477 State Route 26, Lacon, IL 61540 or to St. Mary’s School, 400 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
