Mr. Raymond Lee Miller, Sr. was born in Lynchburg, Sumter County, South Carolina to parents the late Robert Lee Miller and Addie Bell Fulwood-Miller. He received his education in the South Carolina School System. Raymond moved to Philadelphia in 1959 to live with his grandparents Robert and Celia Miller. Attracted to the big city and a pretty girl named Gwendolyn Atkinson, Raymond decided to call Philly home. Raymond married his bride Gwen on July 3, 1965. From that union came his one and only son Raymond Lee Miller, II (Randy). Raymond worked for the Township of Lower Merion for 48 years retiring in 2017 from the highway department, where he was a truck driver (CDL). In 1996 Raymond and family relocated to the state of Delaware where he was the neighborhood grandfather. Always willing to help his neighbors with projects and yard advice. After retirement Ray moved to what would be his final home in Fayetteville Georgia. Raymond Lee Miller, Sr, lived a purpose driven, full and satisfying life. Unfortunately, Raymond was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2017. On August 28, 2025 it won the fight. But boy oh boy what a fight he put up. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Miller and Addie Bell Fullwood Miller, five (5) brothers Garfield Miller, Clarence Miller, Alfonza (Pete) Miller, Elijah Miller and Harry (Nick) Miller. Two (2) sisters Clotell Miller- Rhodes and Carrie Miller- Lamar.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years Gwendolyn Atkinson-Miller, Fayetteville, GA; one son Raymond Lee Miller, II (Charles) of Fayetteville, GA. His two sisters Francena Gamble of Florence, SC and Elizabeth Tucker (Julius) of Fayetteville, NC. Two brothers Jasper (Jack) Miller of Brooklyn NY and Dr. Willie L Miller (Alberta) Hopkins, SC. Two widowed sisters in laws Martha G. Miller, Florence KY and Theola Miller of Philadelphia, PA. One sister in love Janice Petty (James) Ethelsville, AL. Also left to mourn are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We know that Raymond is tending the gardens in heaven and is reunited with his parents and siblings. Us left here on earth have to agree with our Lord, job well done Raymond Lee Miller, Sr.
