Raymond C. Muse, Sr.

Raymond C. Muse, Sr. age 70, a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 26, 2025. He was the devoted spouse of Kathleen (Carter) Muse for 49 loving years. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Howard and Helen (Lussier) Muse and was raised in Dorchester and educated in the Boston Public School system, later attending some college.

He proudly served his country as an Anti-Tank Assault-Man in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating many months to overseas deployments. His weapon of choice was the bazooka. Recently, he had the joy of attending the 250th birthday celebration of the United States Marine Corps in Marblehead, MA with his wife Kathy, savoring every moment. Before falling ill, he had the opportunity to return once more to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island in South Carolina. As he arrived on the base and throughout his visit, he was warmly welcomed with the greeting, “Welcome home, Marine.”

After his service in the Marine Corps, he pursued college courses to become a mechanic. However, an injury required him to transition to a less physically demanding career. He then became a truck driver, and for many years, Ray worked as a long-haul truck driver for the Museum of Fine Arts, traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Remaining in the transportation industry, he eventually retired as an Operations Manager for Kiesling Transportation.

He loved black and white western movies, especially anything starring John Wayne, and cherished time spent bringing his children and then his grandchildren to Castle Island in South Boston. He took his last trip to Castle Island on July 4th to watch the USS Constitution’s annual “turnaround” and 21-gun salute with his wife Kathy and a couple of his grandchildren.

He took great pleasure in supporting his grandchildren, whether it was offering quiet insights during their hockey and Little League baseball games, cheering them on at cheerleading events, or attending their track meets, school concerts, plays, and graduations. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of a friendly game of Texas Hold 'Em and valued the peaceful, meaningful moments spent with his family.

Ray is survived by his beloved children: Tina L. Obrock and her husband Bryan of Stoughton, Raymond C. Muse Jr. of Stoughton, and Tammy Muse of Stoughton. He was the proud grandfather to Brianna, Justin, Christian, Juliana, Kamrin, Aidan, Halie, Jailyn, Tayler, Angie, and Joalex. He is also survived by his siblings, Howie Muse and his wife Ann of Everett, Christine Callahan of Maine, Elizabeth Lee of Marlborough along with several cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, George Muse and James Muse.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, on Thursday January 8th from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held the next day at the funeral home, Friday January 9th at 11AM.
