Raymond L. Richards, a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on May 23, 2025, at a local nursing home in his birthplace of Beeville, Texas.
Raymond was born November 2, 1934, to Leslie and Cleopatra Richards. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from The University of Texas, Raymond embarked on a successful career that culminated in his role as senior vice president of Insurance Company of North America (INA) in New York. He also proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and leadership that he carried throughout his life. He was a former resident of several states, including Colorado, California, Pennsylvania and Maryland, before settling in Mineral, Texas, where he continued to nurture his connections within the community, notably as a devoted member of the Mineral Baptist Church.
On October 24, 1970, Raymond married Mary Jean Balderston in Parkland, Pennsylvania, starting a journey of love and partnership that would span more than five decades. Raymond took great joy in his role as a grandfather to five grandchildren who brought him so much happiness. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, investing, cooking holiday dinners, spending daily time with God, and all things ranching.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Cleopatra Richards; and his brother, Everett Richards.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his wife of 54 years, Mary Jean Richards of Mineral; his son, Raymond Richards; his daughter Amy Kemter; his brother, Eugene Richards; and his cherished grandchildren, James Kemter, Abigail Kemter, Annelise Kemter, Molly Richards and Emma Richards.
Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 10 o'clock at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with Pastor Rex Harrell officiating.
