Raymond Ross Obituary

Mystic - Raymond Daniel "SoaringHawk" Ross Jr., born Oct. 10, 1946, passed away peacefully Aug. 15, 2025, at 11:11 p.m. surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond Daniel Ross Sr. and Helen (McFeeley) Ross. He was the first born of twelve children - eight brothers and three sisters - and he cherished each and every one.

Ray is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary (Pisano) Ross. The couple met as teenagers living on the same street and went on to be married and have four children, twenty-one grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Ray was a proud Vietnam veteran and served many years as the commander in chief at Mystic V.F.W. Ray was passionate about Native American heritage and culture. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and leading his children's Boy and Girl Scout Troops. He also loved fishing and went any chance he got.

Ray had a tremendous impact on everyone he met and touched countless lives. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

A private ceremony was held for immediate family at the State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Middletown.

So sorry to hear about your dad and thought going out to your Mom. Such a nice man who welcomed us to the neighborhood in 2005 along with Briana. So sad.
