Marlborough - Raymond T. Samra, 93, of Marlborough, formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Previously Ray lived in Framingham for 45 years.
Born in Worcester, Ray was the son of the late George S. and Sadie (Abraham) Samra. He graduated from the former Commerce High School in 1949 and received an Associates Degree in Business from Ward School of Accounting in 1951.
Ray married the love of his life, Virginia A. "Ginnie" (Lindquist) in 1953. Ray's dedication and commitment to and passion for his church, St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester was exemplified each day of his life. He was a lifelong member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral; singing in its Cathedral Choir for more than 31 years. He also was a member of its George teens.
Ray served as Office Manager with John Hancock Life Insurance Company for 39 years retiring in 1991. Never one to sit still, he continued to work part-time, finally retiring after working for many years at Advanced Gems & Jewelry.
He leaves his daughter Deborah Flint and her husband Charlie of Onset, MA and Sorento, FL; Raeanne Bancroft and her husband, Philip, of Marlborough, MA; Christine Miller and her husband Bruce of Hudson, MA; Carol Bradley and her husband Jerry of Framingham, MA; his grandchildren Adam Miller and his wife Kim of Wolcott, VT; Ashley Conley and her husband Adam of Berlin, MA; Matthew Bradley, his fiance Rebecca Cadmus, and Jessica Bradley, of Framingham; his four great-grandsons Cameron, Brody, Owen, and Beckett Conley, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Maureen Samra of Worcester, MA. His beloved wife, Virginia Samra, and brothers, George Samra, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, and Roy Samra of Worcester, MA predeceased him.
Ray was a member of Middlesex Lodge of Masons and Orient Chapter No. 31, Order of the Eastern Star in Framingham. He served 8 years as Worthy Patron of Orient Chapter No. 31, O.E.S. in Framingham, and 3 years as Worthy Patron of Olive Branch No. 12 O.E.S. of Ashland.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Ray's family on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM in the Cathedral with the Very Rev. Fr. Milad Selim, Dean of the Cathedral, officiating. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, and, if you wish to make a donation in Ray's memory, contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 30 Anna Street, Worcester 01604.
