Raymond Shacklette Smith

Raymond Shacklette Smith, 94, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026. Raymond was born to the late Pearl (Morris), and Marshal Smith in Valley Station, KY. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, retired from G.E. and a member of Beechland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Gibson) Smith; infant son, Bobby Ray Smith; brother, Chester Smith, and sister, Vera Casey.

Raymond is survived by Tonya and Joe, and was lovingly cared for by his caregivers, Patty and McKinsi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He treasured weekly visits with good friends Don and Debbie, visits from Bob, and sweet treats from Peggy. A thoughtful neighbor, Raymond, always had a soft drink ready for Dave after he finished mowing the lawn. Loved by all who knew him, Raymond will be deeply missed.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home.
