Raymond Starck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Viegut Funeral Home on Oct. 30, 2024.
Raymond G. Starck, 78, of Loveland, Colorado died Wednesday, October 16th, at McKee Medical Center after a recurrence of cancer.
He was born February 24th, 1946 in Longmont, Colorado to Emil and Victoria Starck, and was the youngest of 8 children. He grew up on a farm in Berthoud until he was in junior high school when the family moved to Loveland. There he attended Truscott Jr High, an interesting coincidence, as Ray was named after Raymond Truscott.
Ray attended Loveland High School where he was a star athlete. He earned many conference and state honors in both football and basketball before graduating in 1965. After high school Ray joined the Navy and was deployed on a 4-year tour in the Mediterranean Sea on the aircraft carrier the USS Shangri-La.
Ray played his first round of golf in Cuba while serving in the navy. Golf became a lifelong passion for him. Ray scored 9 holes-in-one and placed in many tournaments throughout his career.
Following his honorable discharge from his military service, Ray returned to Colorado and started his career in construction. He worked with friends and family before starting his own construction company, Ray Starck Construction, Inc. in 1975. It was during this time he met his future wife LuAnn Carson. They were married from 1974-1988 and had two beautiful children, Carson Luke Starck and Emily Jo Starck. Lu and Ray remained good friends until the end.
Ray's children and his three granddaughters, Addison, Jolee and Hadlee were the loves of his life. He cherished his time with them, watching them grow in their own individual personalities. The joy he received from them was immeasurable.
Ray is survived by his children and granddaughters, LuAnn, sister Virginia Buehler, brothers Harlen and Larry Starck (Mary), sister-in-law Cindy Fergurson Starck (Jerry) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Jerry Starck and sisters Karen Sterkel and infant Helen Starck. He leaves a wonderful legacy of true craftsmanship, integrity, humor, kindness and compassion to his family and many friends, golfing buddies, and loyal construction clients. Ray celebrated over 38 years of sobriety for which his family is forever grateful. Many others benefitted from his example of courage and strength. He will be missed immensely.
Contributions in Ray's memory may be made to college funds for the three granddaughters.
Memorial services will be Friday November 1, 2024, 1:00pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Raymond and I graduated together in 1965, and we walked together at graduation. His brother Larry is also my brother-in-law, so I am mourning with him and my sister Mary. Rest in peace, Ray.
