Mr. Raymond Thomas “R.T.” Gordy, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully at his home May 10, 2025. He was born February 15, 1933, in Forsyth County to the late Raymond Thomas Gordy, Sr. and Anna Caudle Gordy. R.T. was a hard-working man who enjoyed farming, tending to his cows, piddling with tractors, and a good bowl of either vanilla or black cherry ice cream. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who truly cherished all the time he got to spend with his babies. In addition to his parents R.T. was preceded by his loving wife, Nellie Elizabeth Hill Gordy, a granddaughter; Penny Cox, and seven siblings; Zena, Mary Jane, Joanne, Shelby, Larry, Lee, and Guy. He is survived by three children; Bruce Gordy (Marie), Eddie Gordy (Debbie), Kathy Elizabeth Gordy; four grandchildren, Wayne Gordy (Krista), Eddie Gordy, Jr. (Blair), T.C. Gordy (Rhiley), Sherry Venable (Michael), and nine great-grandchildren, Gracie, Kindley, Cash, Elizabeth, Presley, Sydney, Ciara, Mikayla, and Chloe. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM Wednesday May 14, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Don Charles and Rev. Justin Duncan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday May 13, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
