Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Walters Funeral Home in the Sunrise Chapel for Mr. Raymond Troy Freeman, 58, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Calcutta House at Hospice of Acadiana. The Rev. Ken Domingue will officiate the ceremony. Gift bearers will be Renalla Hebert and Vivian Monte. Lectors are Lori Garza and Clara Baudoin. Musical selections will be The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, and How Great Thou Art. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the services.
Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and will resume on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m., and will be led by Susan Castille, Giselle Schexnayder, Suzanne Faling, Donna Latiolais, and Sandra Garcia.
Mr. Freeman was born on May 7, 1965 in Brooksville, Florida and was a native of Ocala, Florida until 1983 when he became a resident of Lafayette until his death.
Raymond worked in the retail, oilfield, pawnbroker and construction industry as Owner of Freeman’s Construction for 32 years. Raymond retired working throughout the United States for the Department of Homeland Security as a Manufactured Housing Specialist.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, the former Katherine Ann Conques Freeman; his three brothers, Dennis Freeman, Danny Freeman (Patricia), and Ronnie Freeman (Janice); his two sisters, Mary Johnson (Jimmy), and Mildred Freeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Gene Freeman and Etta Louise Millsap Freeman; his brother Michael Freeman; his sister Pamela Freeman Crews; his maternal grandparents, James Foster Millsap and Rebecca Irene Satterfield Millsap; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willis Paul Conques (whom he considered his father) and Lucy Domingue Conques (whom he wished he would have known due to her passing in February 1978).
Pallbearers are David Conques, Mateo Garza, Robert Monte, Richard Kilpatrick, Jeff Olivier, and Vince Prevot. Honorary pallbearers are Willis P. Conques, Alan Jones, Ken Lantier, John R. Young, Scottie Pellerin, Gary Felts, and Manuel Broussard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Calcutta House at Hospice of Acadiana.
