Raymond Van Dyn Hoven Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Connell Funeral Home - Little Chute on May 12, 2022.
Raymond "Wimpy" Van Dyn Hoven, lifelong resident of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2022 at age 91. Ray was born December 1, 1930 to Hank and Florence (Romenesko) Van Dyn Hoven. Following graduation from Kaukauna High School, he joined the Navy, and proudly served his country. On April 15, 1952, he married Margaret A. Schuh at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. She preceded him in death in February, 2015.
Ray was a builder and the owner of his own lumber business. He took pride in taking good care of his properties, but always believed that people came first!
Ray's house (including his refrigerator) was open to friends and family, especially if they wanted to talk about fishing, if they liked to play cards, or if they were willing to make a bet (maybe a quarter) on the football game! For the past five years, he and his good friend Georgette "Georgy" Spietz loved life together. They shared ups and downs, and brought loving care and laughter into one another's lives.
Besides his many close friends, Ray is survived by his five children: Jeff (Cindy) Van Dyn Hoven, Doug Van Dyn Hoven, Jill (Tom) Miller, Joan (Jim) Vanevenhoven, and Beth Schaefer and their families. Ray is also survived by brothers Lloyd and Dan (Mary) Van Dyn Hoven, as well as many nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and in-laws among the Schuh-Van Dyn Hoven family.
In addition to his parents and his wife, his daughter-in-law, Sherry Van Dyn Hoven, and three brothers Ken, Robert and Carl preceded him in death.
Wimpy's immediate family have chosen to arrange their own time and place for closure and sharing memories. However, they understand that a celebration of life for "Wimpy" will give other family and friends an opportunity to gather in his memory. This will take place on February 22, 2022 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Service at 4:00 p.m.
