But I would not have you be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are sleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Thessalonians 4:13-14
Today we pause to celebrate the life of a devoted husband and son, a loving father, a beloved brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and a loyal friend. Raynard Lee Tucker went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 14, 2025, suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
The life and legacy of Raynard Lee Tucker was born to Bernice Howard and Bobby Haughbrook on September 9, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. His brother Hubert "Earl" Tucker, his beloved maternal grandmother, Leverna Harris, his two aunts, Barbara Clay and Rose Docks, and his precious mother-in-law, Mother Katherine Hall, all preceded him in death.
In 1970, at the age of ten, Raynard relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan, with his family from Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in a loving and close-knit family and was loved dearly by his mother and his little brothers and sisters. Raynard brought joy and laughter to all of them and loved being his mother's oldest son and the big brother of the crew.
Raynard started his education journey in the Chicago Public Schools and upon moving to Benton Harbor, he attended Seely McCord Elementary, Benton Harbor Junior High School, and graduated from Benton Harbor High School with the "Mighty Class of 1978'.
At an early age, Raynard was introduced to Christ and accepted Him as his personal Savior; he truly loved the Lord and often spoke of His goodness and mercy towards him. He rededicated his life to Christ at the Greater Community Christian Fellowship Church of God In Christ under the pastoral guidance of the late Pastor Nathaniel Wells Jr. He later united with the Kingdom Redemption Center Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Michael Robinson and served faithfully in many capacities until his untimely passing.
Fourteen years ago on his birthday, September 9, 2011, he united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Ketericia (Katreka) Carter after reconnecting at their 30th Year Class Reunion and remain together through it all until death they did part. They had a very unique and special love affair and he truly loved his wife with all of his heart.
To know Raynard was a privilege and to be loved by him was an honor. Raynard loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He had a special relationship with each one of them and they each gave him immense joy and happiness when he heard them say "PawPaw". Raynard truly was a loving and caring husband, son, brother, father and a great provider.
Rest On Raynard, you will forever be remembered in the hearts of your family and the "Class of 1978" and you will truly be missed forever. Thank you for all of the love, kindness, protection, wisdom, and humanity shown towards us during your lifetime.
Raynard leaves heartfelt and fond memories in the hearts of his beloved wife, Ketericia (Katreka) Carter-Tucker; of Benton Harbor, MI; his parents, Bernice Fields of Atlanta, GA, and Bobby Haughbrook and his wife, Lettie of Warner-Robbins, Georgia; three sons, Ray Harris and his wife Bobbie of Bailey, North Carolina, Ray Cotton of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Demaccio Carter Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; two daughters, Ramona Williams of North Carolina and Rayanna Tucker of Benton Harbor; beloved stepchildren whom he loved as his own, Shimetrius and Maurice Cotton both of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Lenell Tucker of Grand Rapids and Adrian Haughbrook; four sisters, Pamela Barnes of Atlanta, GA, Debra and her husband, Jeffrey Gordon of South Carolina, Dr. Anita Haughbrook, of Atlanta, Georgia and Antoinette Haughbrook; his god-daughter, Apollonia Williams of Benton Harbor; five sisters-in-law, Maude, Sally, Deborah, Diane, and Pat; three brothers-in-law, Reggie, Clarence and James; (20) loving grandchildren, (7) great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, classmates, family and friends.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
