During Ray's retirement there was nothing keeping him still, he enjoyed fishing with his kids, grandchildren and/or in solitude. Ray enjoyed life and continued to work part time jobs that allowed him to be on the ocean, one of his favorite's was working security with Hy-Line Cruises. This is by no mistake because he spent his day on the water and was a social butterfly. In addition, he loved his gardening, dogs, making tackle and flies for fishing, along with playing his country and doo wop music.
Throughout Ray's life he loved playing softball on the Barnstable County Sheriff's Softball Team, being an assistant coach to children's minor league baseball and following all the sports of his four daughters. He always said, even though he did not have a son, he had the best of supporting his daughters at baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, as well as figure skating, band, and additional extracurricular activities.
Ray also loved being a grandfather "Bestefar" for his two granddaughters and traveling all around the world to be with them. He was a proud husband and dedicated parent to all his four accomplished daughters; additionally a prideful Air Force father to his daughter Col. Heather Perez.
Ray was loved by many people in different ways. He was a dad to more than just his daughters. He was also a friend, family member, and mentor to so many people. He especially looked forward to his Saturday gatherings and he was grateful to have met and loved these very special friends. In his last days, Ray was able to be surrounded by family, had no appetite but enjoyed a few bites of ice cream and daily scratch tickets. We joked as a family that in lieu of flowers people should bring scratch tickets for my mom to play in his memory; he smiled and laughed at the thought of that, "That would be a story to tell" with a smile. He loved his stories - Rest in Peace, Ray.
