Sharon Risdal Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. - Middletown on Oct. 1, 2025.
Sharon Risdal, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the age of 81, in her lifelong home of Middletown, New York. Born on December 28, 1943, to the late Edwin and Mildred Stack, Sharon's zest for life and her selfless nature were evident from an early age.
A proud graduate of Middletown High School, Sharon furthered her education at Orange County Community College where she met Larry, Eastern Michigan University and at SUNY New Paltz. She dedicated her professional life to the joy and care of children, working with 4-year-olds at the Middletown Day Nursery. Her warmth and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on the many lives she touched
Sharon's heart was always full as a loving wife of 60 years to her husband, Larry Risdal. A devoted mother to her children, Kevin and his wife Amy, Keith, as well as Kelly and her husband Mark Bernice. Her role as Nanny and Nana to Danielle and Adison Maricano, Casey and Amanda Risdal, and Trevor and Tanner Bernice, was one she cherished deeply. Great grandmother to Anakin Risdal and Colette Marciano. Sharon is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. The bond she shared with each of them was unique and strong, filled with precious moments and valuable life lessons. Sharon was predeceased by her dear brother Eddie Stack and her cherished grandson James Laurence Bernice.
Her home was a haven of warmth, where the aroma of freshly baked cookies, breads, and other sweet treats often wafted through the air. Sharon's love for cooking and baking was just one of the many ways she expressed her love for her family and friends. Her kitchen was not just a place for preparing meals but a space where memories were made, stories were shared, and laughter was a key ingredient.
Described by those who knew her best as selfless, loving, and joyful, Sharon had a gift for bringing joy to the everyday moments. Her quick wit and easy smile made her a delight to be around, and her selfless acts of kindness made her a cherished member of the community.
Sharon's presence was a light that illuminated the lives of those around her. She was a treasured friend, a beloved family member, and a respected colleague. Her legacy of love, compassion, and humor will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we bid farewell to Sharon, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with joy, generosity, and an abundance of love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her extraordinary spirit. Always known for saying, "I love you more!"
A visitation will be held on Thursday, 5/1/2025 from 4:00 PM - 8 PM at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY.
