RB Murphy

RB Murphy, age 73, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born August 29, 1952, the beloved son of the late Henry and Lula Slusher Murphy.

RB was a member of Clearfork Baptist Church. He enjoyed a successful career as an HVAC technician, a profession he devoted forty years to mastering. Beyond his work, RB cherished the simple pleasures of life, particularly scenic drives and antique shopping, often shared with his beloved wife, Jackie.

In addition to his parents, RB was preceded in death by six brothers, Hobart, Floyd, Mac, Teddy, Bill, Kenny and infant brother; five sisters, Maggie, Charity, Mary Lucy, Frankie, and Bertie.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory for years to come. RB is survived by his devoted wife of fourteen years, Jackie Cheek Hatfield Murphy; sister, Dorothy (JC) Cox; stepchildren, Jeremy (Rhonda) Hatfield; Hope Garrett, Lonnie Garrett, Rusty (Kelly) Hatfield and Holly (William) Hammontree; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friends, Kelly Seal and Andrew Hamlett; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

The family of RB Murphy will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Ferlin Daniels presiding. Music will be provided by Kelly Hatfield, Michael Weddle (RB’s nephew), and Clearfork Baptist Church Choir.

Interment will be private.
