Reba Bryant of Fort Worth, TX passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2024. She was 93.
Please join the family in cherishing Reba's memory and celebrating her remarkable life at 2:00 pm Friday, January 26, in the Chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Home, 1500 Eighth Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104, with viewing and visitation to precede the service at 1:30 p.m. A private interment and graveside service will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Reba Agnes Bryant was born with a defect in her optic nerve in Alvord, TX on April 9, 1930. Her early years were not easy due to her impaired vision and the poverty of the Great Depression. She met these obstacles head-on graduating Valedictorian from high school. Her determined spirit and mathematical skills were rewarded with a scholarship to Texas Christian University graduating with highest honors in 1951. As she had interned at Williamson Dickie the last year of college, the company recognized her talents and offered her a job immediately after graduation where she was chief of the Accounting Department until her retirement at age 65.
At age 36, Reba married the love her life, Walter Bryant. They enjoyed many road trips, international travel, numerous sports, and abundant lives in Jesus Christ. When God took Walter home in 1996, Reba was so thankful for her time with him after retirement. She continued their mission giving and serving as treasurer for Willow Creek Baptist Church, payroll administrator for her sister’s medical practice, and treasurer for several charities. Although Reba and Walter did not have children, they adopted many of us along the way with love, guidance, and gifts of time, money, and prayer.
Reba’s life will be remembered not only for her generosity and love of God and family, but also her fierce competitive spirit in games including “42”, Mexican train, and cards. Together with her brother, Earl, and sister, Jean, she was a warrior for TCU athletics providing unrivaled support during the lean times and boundless joy for winning seasons.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to caregiver Sylvia Contreras, Nathan Loftis and the staff of Go Giver Assisted Living, and Delta Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth West, Phoebe Engle, Garnette Finn, and Virginia Farrar; and her brother, Harley Earl Hicks.
Reba is survived by her nieces, Ann Word and her husband, Larry, Sue Myers and her husband, Craig, Earlene Goens, Diane Smith and Bridget Smith, and Kimberly Rose, Christina Pratt, and Melissa Carr; nephews, David West and his wife, Rene, and Stephen Farrar and his wife; Laura; and many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
