It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca Louise Roney “Becki” Jarvis, 79, who peacefully left this world on January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital. Born on May 24, 1945, in Alamance County to Clyde Ruffin Roney and Nina Mae Faulkner Roney, Becki cherished her role as the devoted wife of Elbert Harold Jarvis for 60 wonderful years.
With a commendable career spanning 40 years in the banking industry, Becki retired from Community Federal Savings and Loan, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work. She was a beloved member of her community, first as part of the First Church of The Nazarene in Burlington and later at Lakeview Community Church, where she actively participated in the Happy Timers Club.
Becki's warmth, kindness, and culinary talents were evident in everything she did. She enjoyed reading and was well-known for her delightful chocolate pies, which brought smiles to family gatherings. A true family woman, she held dear the moments spent cooking and nurturing her loved ones. Becki was a member of Tops #349, she had a heart of gold and would do anything for her loving grandchildren. She found joy in cheering for her favorite teams, proudly supporting the UNC Tar Heels and the Atlanta Braves, and she often reminisced about being spoiled by her siblings, as she was the youngest in her family.
Her legacy continues through her cherished family, her husband, Harold Jarvis; her son, Rodney Jarvis and wife Becca; her daughter, Shannon Jarvis Wrenn and husband Robby; and her grandchildren that she adored, Madeline Jarvis, Ben Jarvis and wife Tori, Jarvis Wrenn, and Alyssa Wrenn. Becki is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Virginia Kernodle, Doris Perry and husband Wayne, Shelby Aldridge, Nancy Whitfield, Ann Boone and husband James, as well as several nieces and nephews. Becki was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Roney and Herbert Roney; sisters, Betty Lou Cheek and Alene Christopher; half-brothers, Curtis, Paul, Ralph and Chesley Roney; and half-sisters, Sarah Pickard and Pauline Caudle.
A memorial service to celebrate Becki's beautiful life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Community Church, with Pastor Buck Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Lakeview Community Church, 101 Boone Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
