Rebecca Bryce Obituary

Rebecca Bowers Bryce went to her eternal rest in the early morning of September 6 at the age of 72. She had been bravely and miraculously battling stubborn systemic infections for more than three years. She came close to death more than once since the summer of 2022 and we are grateful that she stayed with us for as long as she did. We find some peace knowing that she is no longer in pain.

She was born on March 30, 1953 in Salt Lake City to Raymond and Elise Bowers. She grew up in Salt Lake City and finished high school in Vancouver, British Columbia when her parents were called to preside over the Alaska British Columbia Mission. That's where she met Norman Kay Bryce, whom she would marry in the Salt Lake Temple on April 10, 1974. She was a faithful member of the church. She had a great talent for art and she also enjoyed sewing and painting ceramics. For a time after getting married she was a small business owner in Arizona.

She worked hard to provide a good life for her children. She had a long career at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where she chose to work so that Julie, Natalie, and Matthew could take advantage of discounted tuition. She patiently supported and cared for Melanie through all of Melanie's health challenges. She loved being a grandma to Julie and Natalie's children. She loved going to shows and going out to eat with Matthew. And she also loved her magnificent Great Danes. We sincerely hope that she knows that she was a great mother.

She is survived by her loving husband Norman; Julie, Jesse, Margaret, and Kathleen Willardson; Natalie, Darrell, Ava, Rebecca, Cole, and Dana Wilson; Melanie; and Matthew and Alexandre Cutini. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle, her parents, her brother Scott, and her sister Judy.

A viewing will be held in her honor at the Kolob Canyon Ward building: 80 South Main Street, Kanarraville, UT 54720 on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at 10am to 11am. Interment will immediately follow at the New Harmony Cemetery, located at: Center Street in New Harmony, UT 84757. It is located just east of the town, near the highway and a Militia marker monument.
