Rebecca Gail Thaggard Dunlap, 76, walked into Glory on Friday afternoon, November 14, 2025. She fought a battle with hearing loss since childhood, then kidney failure, followed by cancer with bravery up until the very last minute. She faced these battles every day of her life with courage, optimism, and incredible strength. She wanted to be the next Betty White, living to 100.
She leaves behind her son, David and his fiance', Melissa; her grandchildren, Tori Dunlap (Paul), Jonathan Dunlap (Rachel), Lindsay Dunlap, Lydia Dunlap, Alexis Dunlap, and Paisley Dunlap; her sister, Pat Auten; her best friend, Deanie Watts; her work family at Chick-fil-A; a number of nieces and nephews; and others whom she loved dearly.
She was greeted at Heaven's Gate by her husband, Jeff, her son, Joey, her daughter-in-law, Michelle; her best friend, Terry; her brothers, Ronnie and Dickey; her mom and dad; and countless other loved ones that went on before her.
While our world without her brightness and caring spirit will be painful, the joy of her reunion in Heaven gives us comfort and peace. We are thankful for the time we were able to spend with this beautiful woman.
While the family appreciates the immense amount of love and support, at the request of Becky, services will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Society for Deaf Children by visiting https://deafchildren.org. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for Mrs. Dunlap's family.
