Rebecca (Becky) Lynette Gillis McBrearty went to meet the Lord on May 12, 2022. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Jess Claude and Vivian Wilkins Gillis, nephews Timothy Carlton Gillis, Jr. and Christopher George Gillis, mother and father-in-law Raymond and Mary Beth McBrearty, sisters-in-law Susan McBrearty Ruffo and Elizabeth Rapier McBrearty.
Becky is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Raymond; son and daughter-in-law, Connor Patrick and Kristi Nikolas McBrearty and grandson Jameson Connor McBrearty; her brother, Timothy Gillis; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Lynn Gillis; her brother, Clark Gillis; her sister, Carole Morris; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Shawn McBrearty; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Debbie McBrearty; her brother-in-law, Brian McBrearty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Becky was born and raised in San Antonio, attending St. Gregory's Catholic School and Robert E. Lee High School. Becky married the love of her life in 1975 and were happily married for 47 years before she was called by the Lord. She finally became a mother at the age of 34, creating the perfect child the day after that 34th birthday. Connor was the best thing she achieved in her life, aside from marrying his father. She doted on Connor and loved him more than anything in the world. He brought her endless joy all of her days.
Becky was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer at the age of 51 and kicked its butt for over 17 years. Dr. Amy Lang (START Center for Cancer Care) was responsible for keeping her alive and well and was someone she loved dearly. Dr. Lang's nurses (Rose, Rachel, & Mary) were supportive and always there for her and answering the endless "pain in the butt" patient questions.
Other important people in Becky's life were the GTOs (Good Time Oldies) and the Old Broads. These groups were lifelong friends, some from high school and others from marriage. Becky had so many friends, colleagues, and confidantes who meant so much to her throughout her life, and their support and love for her is immeasurably appreciated by the family.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Wednesday, May 25th from 5pm to 7pm at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at 7pm, and Mass on Thursday, May 26th, at 10am.

Such a sweetheart. Great smile. Her brother Clark and I were friends, and relatives. Happy memories. Jackie Jackson.

My condolences to the McBrearty family. It was an honor to have taken care of Becky throughout the years. She always made me laugh, and I enjoyed our conversations about our families. She loved her family dearly. She will be missed so much! May she rest in peace.
