Rebecca Eleanor Pritchard, age 77, of
Alta, Iowa passed away April 30, 2024 at Methodist Manor in
Storm Lake, Iowa after a battle with lung cancer.
Memorial services will take place Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
Becky was born on December 16, 1946 in
Tilden, Nebraska the daughter of LeVern and Leona
(Schwager) Wells. As an infant, she was baptized at the United Congregational Church in Neleigh,
Nebraska.
Growing up, she attended a country school and graduated in 1965. Following high school graduation,
she moved to New York and attended Dental Assisting school. After completion, she remained in New
York working for a dentist for a few years. She then moved back to
Omaha, Nebraska and worked for an
oral surgeon for the next 5 years. During this time, she met her future husband.
Becky was united in marriage to Darrell Pritchard on January 6, 1973 in
Omaha, Nebraska. Together,
they were blessed with two sons, Matthew and Ryan.
Becky and Darrell moved to the
Storm Lake, Iowa area in 1975 and later built their house on Lake Street
in Alta. Becky worked in Registration at the Buena Vista Clinic in Storm Lake for 35 years until her
retirement in 2017. She was a member of the Alta Golf and Country Club and served as a Den Leader
with the Cub Scouts for many years.
Becky loved many things in life but especially golf, The Huskers and family. Becky and Darrell spent many
hours on the golf course with friends playing on leagues and in tournaments. She also enjoyed watching
golf on TV, especially Tiger Woods, her favorite golfer. Becky was a die-hard Husker fan, no matter if
they were winning or losing. Her and Darrell went to many games over the years, Go Big Red! Most of
all, she fiercely loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. Becky also enjoyed going to
the casino, reading, playing cards and traveling to Puerto Rico, Baltimore and Arizona. She was known
for affectionately calling people "sugar" no matter how well she knew them or not. Becky was referred
to as "Nibby" by many people but most importantly her grandchildren. She loved the role of "Nibby" to
May, Hudsen and Dawsen. Nibby will always be remembered for her spunky, fun-loving, caring nature
and someone who showed genuine kindness to everyone she met.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ryan (Kristen) Pritchard of
Alta, Iowa; daughter-inlaw, Alison Pritchard of Baltimore, Maryland; brother, Rich (Sharalyn) Wells of Brunswick, Nebraska;
brother-in-law, Jim Pritchard of
Anthem, Arizona; sister-in-law, Candace Wells of
Omaha, Nebraska;
sister-in-law, Janice Pritchard of
Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: May Pritchard of Baltimore,
Maryland; Hudsen and Dawsen Pritchard of
Alta, Iowa; nieces and nephews; extended family and many
friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Pritchard; son, Matthew Pritchard; brother, Jim
Pritchard; parents, LeVern and Leona Wells; parents-in-law, Robert and Arylne Pritchard; and brother-inlaw, Dave Pritchard.
