Rebecca Pummill Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Lea Pummill, 61, of Springfield MO died at her home on October 11, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1963 in Sedalia MO to Shirley Ann Alexander (Pohl) and Bennie Ray Pummill. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1981 where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Gregory McGinnis, who survives. They were married for 36 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Jo (Ron) Trimmer of Lake Ozark MO, and her son Mitchell Alan (Barb) McGinnis of Deer River MN. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Parker Ellison and Kathryn "Kate" Ellison of Lake Ozark MO, and Brecken McGinnis and Carson McGinnis of Deer River MN. Also surviving are sisters Lisa (Pat) Moon of Sedalia MO, twin sister Robyn Pummill of Columbia MO, and Dena (Bill) McFarland of Sedalia MO, in addition to many nieces and nephews. She adored her dogs, Guinness and Bailey, who also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Becky leaves behind a complicated legacy, tormented by a mental illness that eventually became too much to bear. We choose to remember the good times. She knew and loved and will be missed by many people. We also acknowledge that she leaves behind many broken relationships with family and friends who loved her dearly and we all wish things could have been different.

Becky loved her dogs deeply and met and made many good friends because of them. She was sassy and fierce. She always had her nails painted, her hair done, and a Diet Coke close by. She worked hard and started her own bookkeeping business and website. She loved baseball, cornhole, boating, and snow tubing. She loved the winter holidays and traditions. Perhaps her favorite hobby was to share drinks and good times with friends. She found great comfort in God and was worshiping and volunteering at Life.Church in Springfield MO at the time of her death. Of the church, in her journal she wrote, "It is HOME."

No services are planned at this time. Those wishing to honor Becky can make a contribution to a humane society or simply share a meal with a friend.

Greg and to all of the family,

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, I too have been away so long and hadn't known about Becky's challenges. My prayers are with you all as you seek healing and that Becky may now be at peace.

Robyn,

I can't look back at my high school years without remembering that you both brought great personalities and energy to the Class of '81... My prayers are with you as you grieve Becky's passing.

Wow. I´m so sorry for your loss. I knew Becky, well all the Pummills from 23 street. We were all little growing up playing together, softball team, playing kick the can in front yards, and so many more memories. I had no idea of her struggles. Time passed and distance separated us but she won´t be forgotten

Becky and I met when our daughters happened to be placed on the same soccer team. We coached the team and quickly became good friends. Our children were the same age, so we spent a great deal of time in each other's home. Becky helped me through a difficult time when my mom passed away. Funny, compassionate, but fiery...we traveled, played softball, studied the Bible together...so many beautiful memories. Wendy and Mitch...I love you and are keeping you in my prayers.

She was there right after I got baptized with a towel and a hug, congratulating me and letting me know that she was proud of me. With all my interactions with her, she was always so upbeat and positive. I´m truly shocked and saddened
