Rebecca Richards, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 61, in Independence, Missouri. Born on March 26, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri, Rebecca brought warmth and kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A proud graduate of Van Horn High School, class of 1981, Rebecca’s journey through life was defined not just by her personal achievements, but by the profound impact she made on the lives of others. Working as a paraprofessional, she dedicated herself to the education and development of children, embodying her unwavering belief in the power of learning, always giving the glory to God for her achievements. Her hard work and dedication touched the hearts of many, leaving a lasting mark on her community.

Rebecca was known for her loving, sweet but ornery nature, and incredible kindness. She had a unique talent for making each person feel special and valued, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her caring spirit was especially evident in her devotion to her family, whom she cherished beyond measure. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and grandchildren.

An avid reader and a lover of the beach and mountains, Rebecca found joy in both adventure and tranquility. Whether she was skiing down snowy slopes or collecting seashells on the beach, she embraced life with enthusiasm. She was a fierce advocate for education, and she also loved the Lord. She was always uplifting those around her, boldly sharing her faith with friends and family alike.

Rebecca is survived by her beloved mother, Marlene Richards; her loving children, Amanda (Mauricio “Tito”) Pinto; Melissa (Stephen) Daily, Jessica (Christian) Woods, Blake (Kelsay) Wyatt; her cherished grandchildren, Blake, Sofia, Marcelo, Eliyanah, Eliza, Jameson, Jeremiah and 2 special bundles of joy on their way, who will carry her spirit in their hearts forever; siblings, Ken (Joyce) Richards, Dave (Karen) Richards, Jim (Susan) Richards; extended family and dear friends. Her father, Donald Richards, predeceased her, leaving a legacy of love that Rebecca continued to nurture throughout her life.

The world is a little dimmer without Rebecca's radiant light, but her memory will remain a beacon of love and kindness for all who were fortunate to be touched by her presence. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered as a loving matriarch, a champion for education and compassion, and unwavering believer in Christ.

Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to take place at East Side Church on Saturday, February 1st. 19901 MO-78, Independence, MO 64057. The visitation will be from 10-11 with a short service at 11. We will have a party celebrating the life of Rebecca following. Bring a game of choice to play and keep Rebecca's fun loving spirit alive. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for you to bring a side or dessert to the celebration.
