Rebecca Coates Satterfield

Rebecca Ann Coates Satterfield, 76, of Danville, VA passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.

Born on March 5, 1949, in South Boston, VA, Rebecca dedicated her life to caring for others—both in her family and in her long and devoted career as a nurse. For 45 years, she served with compassion and skill, touching countless lives and making a difference in the community she served. She spent the majority of her career as an OR nurse at Halifax Regional Hospital, followed by years providing nursing care in psychiatric and correctional facilities.

Rebecca was known for her warm smile and her ability to make everyone feel seen and cared for. She was feisty and frequently told it like it was. Beyond her career, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love and generosity shaped the lives of those around her. She found joy in playing cards, shopping, reading, and spending time with family, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Wilkerson (Tony) of South Boston, VA, her son, Charles Allen Satterfield (Misti) of Reidsville, NC, and her grandchildren, Madyson (Dylan) and Isabel Wilkerson of South Boston, VA and Blake Wilkerson of Blacksburg, VA. She is also survived by her brother, Rupert Dean Coates Jr (Linda) of Danville, VA and was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Allen Ray Satterfield as well as her parents, Rupert Dean Coates Sr and Eva Coates Hagood.
