It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Rebecca "Becky" Sue Shockley, of Kernersville on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 56 years. Becky passed away in her home with family by her side following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She was born to the late Bobby Ray McHone and Mary Hensley George in Mount Airy on May 22, 1969. Becky was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. She was a talented beautician, serving many clients throughout her career that lasted over 30 years. She was a very strong, inspiring woman with a sense of wit sharper than a tack and never failed to make those around her laugh. She wore many different hats throughout her life, including beautician, business owner, seamstress, gardener, furniture restorer, comedian, and served as an emotional anchor for those close to her, never hesitating to lend a helping hand, listening ear, or shoulder to cry on. Becky is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Ray McHone, 87, of Lowgap. Becky is survived by her husband David Shockley, her daughter Brooke Shockley, and her son Brock Shockley, her mother, Mary Hensley George, her two brothers Mike McHone and Darrell McHone, and her sisters Judy McHone and Pat McHone.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville, North Carolina, and a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. May all those who love her know that she loved them, too, without condition or reserve. Grief is the price we pay for having known such love.
