Deborah “Debbie” Darnell McCormick Taylor, 74, entered her eternal home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was born in Guilford County on May 12, 1951, to the late Ernest and Helen Hicks McCormick. Debbie will forever be remembered for her selflessness. Time and time again, she gave all that she had to others, until she physically could not give any more. She was known for putting herself on the back burner to serve the needs of others, particularly her family. Debbie spent a number of years taking care of “Nanny Goat”. Her very being was dedicated to the Lord, serving him, and serving those around her. She was incredibly charitable, friendly, and full of warmth and grace. In her younger years, Debbie enjoyed running pageants, attending clogging events, and creating memories using arts and crafts- making something out of nothing was enthralling for her. Debbie’s presence felt like home for many, and her memory will serve as comfort in her absence. She will be missed immensely.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Tyre; her best friend, Sandra Nibert; a son, Paul Opie Taylor; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Jones.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, John Taylor; daughters, Jennifer Bowman (D.L.) and Shannon Knight (Dickie); a son, John Taylor II; grandchildren, Jayce Bowman, Brody Bowman, Jessica Butler, Justin Knight, Amanda Kjelson, and Susan Duncan; a great-grandson, Gage Butler; as well as other extended family members and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Mt. Gur Cemetery with Pastor Erick Goff and Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. A visitation will be held the night prior, Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Any memorials may go to Trulite Baptist Church at 4001 N Main St, High Point, NC 27265.
