Rebecca “Becky” Epps Stewart returned to Heaven on February 21, 2026.

Rebecca Epps was born on November 19, 1950, the baby of the family and proud of it. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, with her brother and sister, surrounded by the warmth of family and the smell of barbecue from Epps Smokehouse, her parents’ business. Some of her favorite memories were made there, working alongside family and learning the value of hard work, laughter, and good food shared with good people.

Becky attended Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and graduated in 1968. She was a member of the Lassos, a spirited group known for performing tricks with lassos. Becky loved the fun, the friendship, and the chance to perform. That same playful spirit stayed with her all her life.

After high school, Becky began classes at Baylor University before earning her Associate's RN from Trinity Valley Community College. She later became a Registered Vascular Technologist at Baylor University Medical Center. She worked hard for those credentials and was deeply proud of becoming an RN RVT.

Becky was the devoted mother of Travis and Jana. She poured her heart into raising them. She was their biggest cheerleader and their safe place. She was incredibly proud when her daughter became a doctor and when her son earned his Master of Business Administration degree. Their accomplishments felt like her own.

Becky was also a co-owner of Kenny Joe's BBQ, continuing the family love of food and community. The restaurant was more than a business. It was a gathering place filled with stories, laughter, and the smell of smoke and sauce that reminded her of home.

On July 10, 1998, Becky married Dennis. Together, they built a home in Gun Barrel City and built a life filled with companionship, projects, and quiet joy. They enjoyed their retirement years side by side.

To her grandchildren, she was Grammy. Being Grammy was one of her greatest joys. Becky was funny and silly. She loved to make people feel seen and special, often through a handmade card covered in glitter, paint, and carefully chosen words. If you received one of her cards, you knew you mattered.

She loved family reunions at Lake Whitney, crafting at her kitchen table, painting, online shopping, and finding little ways to surprise the people she loved. Becky’s life was rooted in family, faith in her children, pride in hard work, and a playful heart that never faded.

Becky leaves behind a family who adored her and a legacy of warmth, humor, and handmade love that will never be forgotten.

Becky is preceded in death by her brother John; and parents, Garnett and Freddie Epps.

Becky is survived by her husband, Dennis; son, Travis and his wife Amy; daughter, Jana and her husband Troy; step-daughter, Jennifer; step-daughter, Leah and her husband Matt; step-daughter, Denise and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Lacie, Luke, Mason, Carter, Jackson, Cru, Gage, Cody, Charlotte, Owen, Lilly, and Tyler.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, February 25, at Moorhead Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City. The funeral will be celebrated at 11:11 am, Friday, February 26, 2026, at Moorhead Funeral Home. A committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank.
