Josephine "Kay" Kallina Ingram, 81, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and faithful servant, Kay lived a life defined by her deep love for family, unwavering faith, and tireless dedication to serving others.
Kay was born on June 22, 1944, in McAllen, Texas, to Frank and Elouise Kallina, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up with a strong sense of family alongside her siblings, Janis McCaffrey (Pat) and James "Jimmy" Kallina whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Alamo Heights High School, Class of 1962, before attending Baylor University, where she earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees in Biology in 1966. That same year, on December 31, 1966, she married the love of her life, James Eddie Ingram. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community until his passing.
Kay devoted her professional life to education, teaching Biology at Fort Sam Houston Independent School District. She was known for her passion for learning and for inspiring countless students over the years.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Kay was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio, where she faithfully served as a deacon and a loyal member of the prayer room.
Beyond her church and career, Kay was deeply committed to serving others through many volunteer organizations. She generously gave her time and talents to the Battle of Flowers Association, Anger Solutions Network, Junior League of San Antonio, Queens of Fun, Baylor Foundation, Pi Beta Phi, and numerous other organizations throughout her life.
Kay's greatest joy was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of Julie Ingram, James "Kal" Ingram, Shannon Bourland (Rusty), and Cameron Ingram, who preceded her in death. She adored her daughters in love, Natalie Kay Ingram, Daphne La Montagne, and Kristi Ingram. She was a cherished grandmother to Zachary Johnson (Taylor), Elliot Ingram, Jordan Ingram, Payton Bourland, Presley Bourland, Tristan Ingram, and a great grandmother to Kyle Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, and Wilco Beck. She also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Rusty Bourland, Kal Ingram, Tristan Ingram, Zachary Johnson, Jason Kallina, and Patrick McCaffrey.
Kay will be remembered as a faithful servant and the biggest supporter of her friends and family. She found genuine joy in helping others and caring for those around her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering encouragement touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Funeral Home, 1101 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, 319 E. Mulberry Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212, followed by a reception.
Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the many lives she touched.
