Redverse DaCosta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bell's Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Pembroke Pines on Feb. 19, 2026.
Redverse Leroy DaCosta, affectionately known as Ernest, was born on October 7, 1948 to parents Lloyd and Grace DaCosta (nee James) in Wilmington, St. Thomas, Jamaica. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 26th, 2026.

Redverse attended Mt. Nebo All Age School in St. Catherine, Jamaica and later graduated from Wilmington All Age School in St. Thomas. He went on to graduate from Chestervale Youth Camp in St. Andrew, Jamaica in 1968, where he was trained in building construction. He later joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Redverse took great pride in his service as a police officer and often spoke fondly of that chapter of his life.

In 1980, Redverse migrated to the United States, settling in Chicago, IL, to join his mother and several of his sisters. He worked for many years as a machinist with Vapor Corporation in Chicago.

While serving in the Police Force in Jamaica, Redverse met Beverley Brown, a nurse. After migrating to the United States, he returned to Jamaica, where they were married on December 22, 1982. Beverley and her son, Kerpal, later joined him in Chicago. Together, Redverse and Beverly welcomed two sons, Traverse in 1985 and Preston in 1986.

Redverse was a devoted Seventh-Day Adventist throughout his life. He was baptized at the Wilmington SDA church at the age of 15 and later served there as an Elder. After moving to the United States, he, his wife and children became members of the Evanston Seventh-Day Adventist church in Evanston, IL, where he was also ordained as an Elder.

Later in his life, Redverse moved to Florida, where he worked as a tile installer. While there, was a member of Lauderhill SDA Church and in 2016 West Park SDA Church, where his church family became a source of deep support.

Redverse leaves to cherish his memory his children, Traverse and Preston (Tatiana); granddaughter, Alayna; three brothers, eleven sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and cherished members of his church family, including Natalie Salesman, Erika Maxwell, and Brother Taylor. Redverse was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Errol and his sister Veronica (May).
