Reed T. Martin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 12, 1942, Reed’s journey through life was marked by dedication to family, an unwavering commitment to his career, and a heart full of courage.

Reed embarked on a noble path early in life, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964, where he exemplified discipline and strength, traits that would follow him throughout his endeavors. After military service, he transitioned into a fulfilling career, notably dedicating 20 years of his professional life as an electronics technician with Milton Roy. His technical prowess shone brightly, ensuring that the machinery and tools of his trade functioned seamlessly. Later, his compassionate nature led him to become a bus driver for First Student, where he carried children with care and kindness, touching the lives of many in the community.

He was a devoted husband to Judith for 54 years, their love story unfolding in the tapestry of life as an enduring partnership built on trust and shared dreams. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children, Nathan (Jessica) and Natalie (Adam) Gatto, who carry forth the values and love instilled in them by Reed and Judith.

Reed took immense pride in his role as a grandfather. Logan, Remy, and Lucian Martin, along with Jenna and Jayden Gatto, filled his heart with joy and laughter. He cherished the moments spent with them, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will forever echo in their lives.

Reed's legacy extends beyond his immediate family; he was a beloved brother to David (Debra) Martin, Diane (Richard) Lindberg, and the late Elizabeth (late John) German and is a cherished uncle to Jason (Rosemary), Jeffrey (Kelly) German, Cheryl (Rick) Brand, Greg Thomas, Stephanie Mostlier and David Martin, building bonds that time could never sever. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Louis (Judi) Thomas, who enjoyed a close relationship with him.

A visitation to honor Reed's life will be held on January 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Prayer Service 3:30 PM) at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, Illinois. This gathering will provide a space for family and friends to share stories, celebrate his memory, and reflect on the profound impact he had on so many.

Reed T. Martin’s life was a testament to devotion, service, and love—traits that will continue to resonate through the lives of those he touched. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we acknowledge the indelible mark he has left on our hearts, forever reminding us to embrace life with the same fervor he embodied.
