Reese Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Twiford Funeral Homes - Elizabeth City on Mar. 6, 2026.
Reese Edward Smith, age 66, of Moyock, NC, made it to heaven on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was born in Norfolk, VA, on April 27, 1959, to Edward Reece Smith and the late Wanda Mae Holloman Smith, and was the husband of Catherine Holden Smith. Reese lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady faith, and a heart that cared deeply for those around him. He loved the Lord and trusted Him through every season of life. He reflected Christ in the way he loved, served, and showed up for his family and friends.

Reese is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Cathy; his children, Reese Jr. and wife Melissa, Scott and wife Erika, Shannon and husband Kenny Rose, LaShea and husband Justin Rogers, and Stephanie and her fiancé Adrian; his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Laura, Riley, Sawyer, Brittany, Daniel, Kenton, and Maddilyn; his great-grandchildren, Emmie, Karson, and Colson; his loving father, Ed; and his sisters, Teresa, Deedee, and Renee. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Though our hearts grieve his absence, we find peace in knowing he is singing "Hallelujah" with his Savior-healed, whole, and made new.

"From the Mountains to the Sea," a Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Gratitude Farms, 1004 Saint Brides Rd. West, Chesapeake, VA 23322, and at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Upward Christian Fellowship, 991 Upward Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Imagine Building Fund at Bridge Church (https://bridgechurch.tv/give/), 130 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917.

Twiford Funeral Homes, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, is assisting the Smith family. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
