Deandra Lynn Carr

Deandra L. Carr, affectionately known as DeeDee, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 57, in Durham, North Carolina, following a courageous four-year battle with Glioblastoma. Born on October 23, 1968, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Deandra lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. DeeDee was a devoted mother who cherished her children above all else. Her life revolved around her family, and she poured her heart into nurturing and loving them. Her home was always open to friends and strangers alike, as she never met a person she wouldn't welcome with open arms. DeeDee's vibrant personality and infectious spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. A long and fulfilling career in property management began for DeeDee at the young age of 19. She worked diligently as a property manager for numerous companies throughout the years, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication. In addition to her career, DeeDee had a special place in her heart for Disney World, where she created countless magical memories with her family. Her beloved canine companion, Zoey, shared her journey through life, and their reunion in Heaven brings comfort to those who loved them both.

DeeDee is preceded in death by her loving mother, Lois Emma Jean "Collins" Christian. She leaves behind a devoted family, including her daughter, Emily C. Carr of Raleigh, NC; her sons, Bennett Carr of Dallas, TX and Taylor Carr (Brenna) of Raleigh, NC, and Zachary Carr (Amber) of Prattville, Al. She is also survived by her father, Clarland "Eddie" Christian of Broadway, VA, and her three sisters: Debbie Casteen (Joe) of Portsmouth, VA; Tammy Stultz of Broadway, VA; and Amy Christian of Chesapeake, VA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 12:50 PM at Oman Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Richard Castleberry. Interment will be at Moyock Memorial Cemetery, 230 Caratoke Hwy, Moyock, NC 27958.
