Charlene Herron Davis

Charlene Herron Davis, age 88, of Hertford, NC, died at Currituck House on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born in Nauvoo, AL, on January 27, 1938, to the late Homer Charles Herron and Kathleen Johnson Herron, she was the widow of her first husband, Leland Vance Sylvester, Sr., and her late husband, Leslie "Dave" Davis.

Charlene was an active participant in senior games, with Bocce Ball being a particular favorite. A proud and involved member of her local Ruritan Club, she devoted herself to her community. Charlene enjoyed bluegrass music and festivals, camping, fishing, crabbing, painting, and crafting. An excellent seamstress, she made her daughters' wedding dresses. Charlene's commitment to her family was unwavering as she dedicated much of her time and energy to caring for her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Seper (Frank) of Moyock, NC and Diane Yoder (Dave) of Greenwood, SC; one son, Leland V. Sylvester, Jr. of Hertford, NC; one sister, Patty Halstead (Larry) of Bayou La Batre, AL; a son-in-law, Tim Catlett; six grandchildren, Christopher Sylvester (Alicia), Sean Sylvester (Amanda), Jenny Harrison, Jeffrey Harrison (Diana), Miranda Stephens (Blake), and Bryan Seper (Alyssia); ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Charlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Catlett; two sisters, Christine Harris and Janice McDaniel; and a great-great-grandchild, Kaden.

The family would like to thank her caregiver, Priscilla Williams, and the staff at Currituck House for the loving care they gave to their mother.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Kevin Reiver officiating. Burial will take place at Moyock Cemetery.
