Reggie Jones, born October 12, 1955, and transitioned to his heavenly home on November 14, 2025, surrounded by his devoted and loving family.
Enlisting in the US Marines after high school, he served our country with courage and strength and continued after his service ended. He was employed by Elkay & Converse manufacturing. He provided for his family while working at Lewis Monroe Tree Company until he retired and later went to work at the local Piggly Wiggly, where he became known for far more than his hard work. He never met a stranger. Whether someone stopped in for a quick errand or they just crossed paths while unloading groceries, he greeted them with a smile and struck up a conversation about his favorite team, "Tarheels". His gift of talking and helping others made him unforgettable. He was a proud and active member of Maxton First Assembly where his faith guided, and kept him. His kindness uplifted those around him. His presence was steady, his heart generous, and his spirit humble. One of the most cherished memories he leaves behind is his love for animals. No matter where his day, evening, or night took him, he always made sure every stray animal he encountered was cared for.
To his family, he was more than a father-he was a supporter, and a friend. He taught us to work hard, serve others, to stay grounded in faith and to treat every person the way we would want to be treated; with dignity and respect.
Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind. He touched many lives, and everyone who met him walked away with a new friend. His smile, stories and gentle spirit will forever live in our memories.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Javie and Margie Jones; his daughter, Destiny Locklear; granddaughter, Victoria Hunt; brother, Lathan Jones; sister, JoAnn Locklear; and a very special friend, Ms. Anna Carbaugh.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children who he was a proud father of, Mrs. Danielelle Brown (Devangelo "Debo") of Parkton, Mr. David Hunt (Josie) of Maxton, Mr. Joshua Hunt (Aleesha) of Hickory, Mr. Ryan Hunt, Mr. Cody Jones of Whiteville, Ms. Allison Jones of Maxton, Mr. Mark Jones of Maxton, and Mr. Reggie Devon Jones of Lumberton; his siblings, Jerry Jones of Virginia, Joseph Locklear (Linda) of Laurinburg, Gregory Jones (Celestina) and Rugene Clark (Rufus), both of Pembroke, Kathy Hensley (Al), Denise Lowery, Catherine Howell, Rodney (Donna), all of Maxton, Judy Moody of Greenville, SC, Michelle Hardin of Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Reggie's favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured them all - DeShawn Townsend, Patrick Baker (Dalila), Ladestiny and Lacoryian Brown, Zachariah Hunt, Nehemiah Revels, Donald Hunt, Ayden Hunt, Aspen and Grayson Hunt, and two great grandchildren, Zy'novia Robinson and DeShawn Townsend Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 7-9 PM, at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs. A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Maxton First Assembly of God, with the burial following the service at Helping Hands Ministries Cemetery.
