Regina J. Eaker

 

Regina J. Eaker, lovingly known to her friends and family as Regina, passed away on August 1, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. She was born on August 17, 1948, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the place she called home throughout her life.

Education played an integral role in Regina's life. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Limestone College, equipping her with the knowledge and skills that would shape her successful career. Regina's thirst for knowledge was insatiable, ensuring she stayed up-to-date and proficient in her field.

Regina's professional journey was marked by dedication and service. She was employed by Spartanburg Community College for an impressive 42 years, retiring as Human Resource manager. Her commitment to her work and the college community was truly exceptional, leaving a lasting impact on all those she encountered.

Beyond her professional achievements, Regina possessed an adventurous spirit that drew her to explore the world around her. Her happy place was undoubtedly the beach; it brought her immense joy and tranquility. Traveling held a special place in Regina's heart, as she always found herself planning for the next adventure.

From Alaska to Niagara Falls, from the Florida Keys to exploring the great outdoors out west through camping trips—the memories of these experiences will forever shine brightly in our hearts. Regina had an innate curiosity that pushed her to seek new horizons and embrace different cultures.

Regina touched the lives of many with her vibrant personality and warm demeanor. Those who knew her best will remember her infectious laughter and genuine kindness. She possessed a nurturing spirit that made others feel valued and loved.

As we bid farewell to Regina, we take solace in knowing that she is reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. She is now embraced by the souls of grandparents, Susie and Henry Johnson, mother, Faye Johnson Scoggins, sister, Marsha Marshall, and brother, Eddie Vice. Their presence in her life was cherished, and now they are reunited in eternal peace.

Regina's loved ones further include her husband of almost 50 years, Barry L. Eaker of Chesnee, who stood by her side through thick and thin, providing unwavering support and love. She leaves behind her brother, Charles Scoggins, special nephew, Josh Marshall, great niece, Rylee Marshall, great nephews, Corbin and Dylan Marshall, uncles, Olin Johnson and Gene (Beverly) Johnson, as well as cousins, other family members, and dear friends who were blessed to have known her.

Regina's impact also extended to the furry friend who faithfully stood by her side throughout countless days—the beloved fur baby Abby. Their companionship brought immeasurable joy to Regina's life, a constant source of comfort and love.

To celebrate the life of Regina J. Eaker, there will be two events held in her honor. The first is a visitation on August 5, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel (2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307). This will be an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects.  Her Celebration of Life will take place at the same location on August 5th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
