Regina Tomasetti Obituary

Beloved piano teacher, loving wife, mother and grandmother
Regina Tomasetti, age 84, passed away on November 9, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Anne and Joseph DeMaria. As a young woman she attended Fontbonne Hall Academy. She worked for CBS Television for several years and loved playing the piano as a young adult. Her piano passions guided her into becoming an incredibly gifted, outstanding and beloved piano teacher of 34 years. She was much more than an ordinary piano teacher. She would dress up for Halloween (as a witch) and for Christmas (as Mrs. Claus), for all her 50-plus students. Her generosity as a piano teacher included cookie, cake and brownie baking for days and days, to present a warm and generous annual piano recital for all her students and parents. This was her humble way of saying "thank you" to everyone who made her life so happy. Regina touched the lives of so many children throughout the years, and each one felt her "special love" in the most beautiful way.
Regina met the love of her life, Angelo, in her junior year of high school at Saint Ephrem's Church confraternity dance, and then later she attended his high school senior prom at Cardinal Farley Military Academy in Rhinecliff, NY. They both had that "special magic" that you find only once in a lifetime! People search for years and years to find that special love, but the world could easily see the "magical love" that existed between these two incredible people. She married Angelo at Saint Ephrem's Church in Brooklyn, NY on September 16, 1961. She was a devoted wife of 63 years of marriage. Together they raised 3 children, Michael, Joseph (Seneida), and Regina (Christopher). In addition to being an outstanding mother, she was a truly dedicated grandmother to Jaclyn, Samantha, Christopher and Eva. She enjoyed her annual visits to Long Beach Island for more than 30 years with her entire family (children and grandchildren). Her passions included baking, cooking, shopping, puzzles and mostly celebrating the holidays where her house lit up with an abundance of decorations and lights. Smithville was her "happy place" for many years with her husband, and she enjoyed quiet times, great food and shopping in the many stores that Smithville had to offer.

She was a woman of great integrity and unwavering dedication to all she knew and loved. She was predeceased by her sister Joanne Genzale. She is survived by her beloved husband Angelo, and her sisters Lorraine Cafero (Bill Cafero), and Barbara DeMaria.

May we all find solace in the memories we shared with this magnificent woman, and may her light continue to glow in all the lives she touched.

Our hearts are completely broken ... but the face of heaven has a new bright light for all the world to love!!

May God keep her safe ... till we meet again!

Dear Michael, Joseph and Regina, I was so sad when I heard about this yesterday. Your mother always supported the staff at St. Patrick's School & Church. I neve saw her without a smile on her face. The three of you were lucky to have her as your mom and I was blessed to have her as a friend. She made my job as your teacher so much easier by always offering a helping hand. May she RIP. With love & prayers. Linda (Miss Marino) Marino

From the very first time I met Mrs. Tomasetti, her warm pleasant ways made me smile. I always looked forward to seeing her at holiday gatherings, where she would be such a bright light. She will be missed by so many, but I know heaven has gained a beautiful soul.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs Tomasetti when my daughter took piano lessons with her many years ago. She was a wonderful woman. Her kindness will always be remembered. I extend my condolences to all her family.
