Reginal Dennis Garrison died peacefully at age eighty-two, surrounded by family, on February 14, 2026, near his lifelong hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. Reg was born on August 26, 1943.
Reg grew up in East Fort Worth with his two brothers and one sister and attended Polytechnic Baptist Church. After serving in the Army and learning computer programming in the 1960’s, Reg had a lifelong career in programming and technology.
Reg loved the Lord, and his life was centered on God. He was a Sunday School teacher for decades, served as chairman of the Deacon Council at East Meadows Baptist for multiple terms, and chaired the Building Committee for the church’s expansion in East Fort Worth. He was a member of First Baptist Arlington for the last twenty years of his life. Most importantly, he had a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and is with him in Heaven today.
He met Linda Nell Rhoden in 1966, and they were married in 1968. They raised their family, daughter Bethany and son Stephen, in Fort Worth. Reg and Linda had a lifelong love story until their final Valentine’s Day.
An avid music and sports fan, Reg loved every one of his children’s piano recitals, band performances, and sporting events. Whether it was church events or family vacations, his family had fun together. He was a role model to his children on how to love and lead his family.
Gramps, as he was known to his five grandchildren, attended dance recitals, band concerts, track meets, and lacrosse games, and shared many special memories with them from trips to holidays to graduations. Even when Parkinson's slowed him down, he still closely followed and encouraged them.
Reg would say a prayer before every family meal, setting the tone for his family to be grateful to God for their blessings. His family knows they will see him again in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Garrison; his daughter, Bethany Rogers, and Bethany’s husband, Randy; his son, Stephen Garrison, and Stephen’s wife, Sarah; his five adoring grandchildren, Ryan Rogers, Riley Rogers, Abigail, Ruthie, and Kate Garrison; his brother, John Garrison, and John’s wife, Kathy; his brother, Joe Garrison; and his sister, Sharon Shannon.
Reg was preceded in death by his mother Jo Dorothy Garrison, and his father, JC Garrison.
Reg Garrison’s funeral will be held at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, February 20, at 2PM with a reception to follow.
Burial will be on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 9:15am at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
