Reginald Jerome Garner Sr.

It is with much love that we honor the passing of Reginald Jerome Garner, Sr., who departed his vibrant life on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Reginald Garner attended Ella Grant Elementary School and graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School in Prichard, AL., where he played football. Reginald Garner was dedicated to his Christian faith and was lead to Christ by his grandma. It was at Crockett Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Prichard, Alabama, where he confessed to being called to preach. He preached his first sermon shortly after ; then, Reginald was called/assigned to pastor Good Hope A.M.E. Zion Church in Washington County, Calvert, Alabama. He was privileged and honored to serve as a valuable member of many ministries and church homes.
Reginald Jerome Garner, Sr. will be remembered for his loving heart, generous spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. No matter the circumstances of his own life, he seemed to always have time to pour into and uplift others. Because of his warm, sociable aura no one Reggie met remained a stranger. He loved to fish, cook delicious meals, gather with his loved ones, and spread laughter with his many jokes. Those close to him will always recall the true love of God in his heart.
Reginald Jerome Garner, Sr. was proceeded in death by his mother, Frances Inez McDaniel; father, John Richard Wilson; grandparents: Leo and Frances Betts, and Cassie Wilson; brother, Carl McAboy; sisters: Pricilla Wilson-Williams, Rev. Linda Wilson-Arthur. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted children: LaShaundra Monique Gill, Reginald Jerome (Katelyn) Garner, Jr., Regina Jelicia Garner, Richard John Garner, and Rachael Jennetta Garner. His love will forever be imprinted on the hearts of his grandchildren: Brandon Eric Braxton, Jr., Akiyah Monique Gill, Destini Alaysia Johnson-Garner, Jaiden Peterson, Ranyia Mack, Jahre Alexander Burden, Francis Julian Garner, Quincy Jerome Garner, and Hazel Joy Garner; great grandchildren: Brandon Eric Braxton, III, and Ka'oir Aylani Braxton. He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Rev. Johnetta Wilson, Peggy D. Harvey, Barbara A. Hamilton, Rev. Allen B. McDaniel, Sr., Grace Elaine (Michael) Garner White, Alyson Garner Rogers; aunt, Betty Ruth Miller. He also will be leaving behind his beloved God Children: Shanessa Johnson and Benjamin Barren ; along with a multitude of devoted nieces, nephews, extended families, and friends all over.
